Job Purpose Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Senior Solutions Architect in the Office of Technology Services (OTS). This new dynamic position will help drive innovation and business alignment to build effective platforms for running University enterprise business applications. Reporting to the CIO, this position will provide strategic and tactical guidance as part of the information technology organization, responding to client needs. This position will participate in the design, implementation and adoption of campus technology digital solutions.
The Senior Solutions Architect will cultivate and maintain relationships with key campus stakeholders.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a compelling, approachable manner. Look for opportunities to leverage technology to achieve business unit objectives.
Function as a “technical translator” engaging in relationship management between IT and administrative business leadership to increase the value realized from those IT services, investments and competencies.
Bridge the gap between both technical and non-technical audiences. Research, review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements, gathering processes and developing strategies for enhancing or further leveraging the processes.
Develop solutions to resolve complex technical issues; translate business requirements to process designs; define standards, methods and best practices. Oversee cloud solution architecture, roadmaps and adoption that effect digital business solutions.
Advise and mentor diverse teams; providing guidance on application and integration development, best practices and technical product assistance. Serve as a mentor and provide technical guidance to analyst, application developers and cloud applications administrators throughout the Office of Technology Services.
Lead high-level technical requirement sessions, perform project design reviews; create maintain sound plans to execute usage and adoption strategies. Verify that solutions architecture aligns with roadmaps for enterprise architecture.
This position will be viewed internally and externally as a technical expert and critical resource; may provide technical direction to others.
Provides technical leadership in the evaluation of new products, working with vendors or other external providers.
Provides project assistance for dynamic, cross-functional system implementations and integrations, resource management and communications. Prepares cost-benefit analyses for projects and assists business stakeholders in prioritizing projects.
Maintains expert level knowledge of technologies for business application for the enterprise; benchmarks across the industry.
May lead special projects, including enterprise-wide projects. Participates in IT and project budgeting and planning process for assigned areas of involvement.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree five or more years' experience designing, optimizing and integrating business processes with at least 3-5 years performing in the role of a technical lead. Proven ability to lead and explain critical integration intra-and inter- touch-points of the respective application and module. Exposure to multiple, diverse higher education business systems, cloud platforms, technologies and processing environments (i.e. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Cloud ERP, Data Transformation tools, Docusign, Business Intelligence Platforms). Ability to work in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats with both technical and business staff. Excellent problem solving skills involving complex problems.
PREFERRED: Master's degree and experience working in the higher education industry; experience with Salesforce, Taleo, Informatica and PeopleSoft. In depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and modern architecture concepts and principles. Ability to build strong partnerships in a wide range of roles across the campus. Proven ability to champion an idea and bring a group to consensus; set technical strategy, applying an in-depth understanding of the business strategy governing that area.
