Primary Purpose: Develops a vision and implements a strategy for International Student and Scholar Services; supervises international student and scholar services including non-academic advising, programming, outreach activities, and community involvement for approximately 300 international students; manages the advising international students to facilitate their successful integration into the campus and local community as well as maintaining their immigration records including the initial issuance of Forms I-20 and DS-2019; and provides training and programming opportunities to students, staff and faculty to maximize awareness of cultural issues and thus maximize cultural integration.
Essential Functions: 1. Serve as and manage the International Student and Scholar Advisors. Develop processes and procedures for immigration document issuance and immigration record monitoring.
2. Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and other applicable federal laws.
3. Establish protocols for referral of international students to appropriate resources via Pacifics SalesForce CRM.
4. Create an automated communication flow for student engagement and respond to campus/community concerns regarding international student issues.
5. Expand and enhance campus-wide support to international students and create new opportunities that foster cultural engagements between international and domestic students.
6. Establish in-person and online orientations and training programs (on topics of interest to the international student population and to campus departments) to facilitate the integration of international students on campus and in the community.
7. Represent IPS on various University committees and in meetings.
8. Develop policies and procedures related to processing immigration matters. Guide campus stakeholders through federal immigration regulations when they create new opportunities for international students.
9. Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
10. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Three (3) years of professional experience working with international students
One (1) year experience working with international scholars
A US citizen or permanent resident in order to access SEVIS
Five (5) years of experience as an international advisor with three (3) years of experience as a supervisor.
Strong working knowledge of immigration laws, regulations and procedures related to both F-1 and J-1 nonimmigrant visa categories needed to comprehend regulations and resolve complex immigration problems.
Experience with SEVIS and F-1/J-1 regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements as ARO/DSO, and possess an understanding of Department of State and Department of Homeland Security regulations and procedures.
Strong working knowledge of immigration Familiarity with website publication and maintenance.
Ability to work with academic and student services offices; understand and to support the pursuit of SEVIS documentations.
Experience developing orientation and other programming for international student populations.
Cross-cultural awareness and competence and effective communication.
Ability to work with faculty and staff to plan, develop, and implement programs and services related to International Students.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to evaluate needs, present recommendations, and make oral and written presentations.
Proficiency with technology including familiarity with student records systems (e.g., Banner).
Demonstrated budget management and fiscal supervisory experience.
Experience living, working, or studying abroad along with proficiency in one or more foreign languages.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with the use of a computer, phone and other office equipment. Ability to meet the U.S. Department of States regulatory requirements (e.g., undergo regular background checks) to be an Alternate Responsible Officer.
Hiring Range: Min $21.42 per hour to Mid $29.13 per hour, non-exempt
