The Fletcher School is the United States' first professional graduate school of international affairs. The Finance and Administration (F&A) department encompasses all administrative functions for The Fletcher School including financial planning and accounting; personnel management; payroll; faculty affairs; research administration; facility renovation, improvements, and maintenance; administrative support personnel for teaching faculty; and major events such as convocation and commencement.
One of the organizations supported by this position is the Center for International Environment & Resource Policy (CIERP). CIERP is a small, but ambitious and growing Center within Fletcher that combines rigorous research with multi-disciplinary graduate education. It aims to train policy entrepreneurs, skillful at creating evidence-based policy in a global context and equipped with the leadership skills to implement it. In addition to teaching, core and affiliated faculty host research seminars, symposia and conferences, coordinate grant-funded research projects and partner actively with other environmental initiatives at Tufts and with other universities and agencies locally, nationally and internationally. Academically, the Center concentrates on Energy, Climate, and Innovation; Sustainable Development Economics; Agriculture, Forestry, and Biodiversity; Sustainable Development and Diplomacy Governance, and Water and Oceans. Geographically the Center has expertise in China, South America and India.
The Program Coordinator provides advanced support and coordination for programs and projects: Produces a variety of documents, reports and proposals, responds to inquiries and provides detailed information to constituents. Organizes and maintains files and databases; designs and updates applications or other forms for data entry. May assist in updating website and posting social media material. Participates in development of program or project marketing and communications materials, coordinates logistics for meetings and events including travel and arrangements for speakers, provides research assistance, and monitors budgets. In addition to the Center's programmatic components, this position provides advanced administrative support to the Center Director, and supports the teaching and grant-funded research work of a diverse group of faculty, postdoctoral, PhD, and affiliated researchers. In addition to duties listed above, the Program Coordinator serves in a highly visible/front desk capacity as resource for the department including frequent interactions with internal and external constituents. S/he communicates on behalf of Department Chair or managers to explain or disseminate information. Oversees daily operation of office; track status on ongoing matters and follow up as required. Schedules appointments and maintains a complex calendar for the Director. While the primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is to provide administrative support to the Center and several faculty members who teach and engage in other academic and research activities, this description is not intended to be all-inclusive. High School diploma and 5+ years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and 0-3 years of related office experience.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 3+ years of related experience OR Master's degree and 1-2 years related experience.
Knowledge (gained through either academic or professional experience) of the challenges and opportunities related to the environment.
Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including word processing, editing and graphics functions, spreadsheet and database knowledge.
Bookkeeping or basic accounting knowledge.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Basic web design, publishing, and photo editing skills using common website content management systems.
Experience supporting the development of grant proposals, monitoring grant budgets, and executing financial transactions funded by grants.
Demonstrated success working with diverse populations of students.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: May require occasional evening and weekend work. May also require occasional travel.
