The School of Nursing at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Spring 2018 to teach NURS 582 - Advanced Mental Health Assessment. The day and time of this course has yet to be determined.
This course is in the Advanced Practice Nurse Concentration, of the MSN program in the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Track. The successful candidate will co-teach the first clinical/didactic course in the specialty. The course focuses on psychiatric mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning across the life span, emphasizing use of therapeutic alliance, therapeutic use of self, and motivational interviewing, throughout the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning process.
A MSN degree.
Currently working as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Specialist.
Expertise in motivational interviewing with experience teaching this modality to mid-level practitioners.
A doctorate (PhD, DNP) in nursing, or related field.
Designation as a MINT trainer.
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
