Radiology Equipment Service Engineer III – Biomedical Engineering – Orlando
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Radiology Equipment Engineer who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. As part of Adventist Health System, Florida hospital central region, The Clinical Engineering (CE) department of Florida hospital provides for the support, maintenance and safe use of all medical devices across the central region of 8 acute care facilitates. To meet this scope of service, the CE Department oversees the actions of three groups: biomedical service, radiology service and sterilizer service. Each of these three groups performs repair, preventive maintenance and calibration on their respective equipment. The Radiology equipment services team is seeking an equipment service engineer that has specific experience in the maintenance and support of diagnostic ultrasound and cardiovascular ultrasound imaging systems. Familiarity with Philips and GE ultrasound systems required.
Monday – Friday; 7:00am – 3:30pm
The Radiology Equipment Service Engineer III performs task under minimal supervision of senior fellow Radiology Equipment Service Engineers, Radiology Services Manager and department Director. Possesses a strong background in physiology, electrical, electronics, mechanical, electromechanical, optical, hydraulics, and radiation principles. Actively preforms preventive maintenance and inspections, installations, troubleshooting & repairs, calibration and modification of radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging systems and associated equipment. Participates in organization equipment management program. Interprets national safety and accrediting standards, pre-installation blueprints, schematics, and regulatory publications. Provides prompt courteous customer support, technical oversight and guidance to clients. Actively participates in and accepts the responsibility for fostering and maintaining professional relationships among a very diverse imaging community. Provides for safe, reliable and available technology for patient care. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
In depth understanding and working knowledge of all general x-ray systems, including digital imaging, mobile x-ray, c-arms, general rad and R/F rooms, ultrasound imaging and mammography
Associate's degree or higher in Biomedical Equipment Technology, OR
Equivalent combination of education/training in military, technical schools, or a related discipline
Eight or more years of experience working in the radiology imaging field (i.e. equivalent vendor services)
Five to ten years of working experience in a hospital facility
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Resolves problems associated with installing, repairing, modifying and using radiological imaging and support systems. Performs corrective and preventive maintenance (PM) on Radiological Imaging systems and equipment.
Performs initial inspections on new Imaging equipment and ensures inclusion into equipment management database. Documents preventive maintenance on organizational forms as well as ensures preventive maintenance documentation inclusion in the centralized database.
Actively participate in reduction of repair costs. Researches and generates purchase requisitions for repair parts and ensures subsequently issuing of parts in organizational database as required.
Evaluates Imaging system for compliance to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and regulatory standards. Ensures leadership is informed of issues of non-compliance device and systems and formulates and forwards recommendations to remedy non-compliance.
Performs inspections to determine if contractor finished services meet specifications.
Works with clinical staff in solving equipment problems and provides training when needed.
Inspects and reports operator misuse and/or user damage of imaging systems. Investigates safety issues, hazards and equipment incidents. Services and configures radiology imaging systems to the organizational network.
Adheres to performance metrics for project management (PM) completion, closure, and parts management.
Maintains work area in an organized and safe condition.
Participates in team proficiency training of fellow technicians and staff.
