The Student Life Fiscal Advisor and Manager reports to the Director of Student Union and Campus Engagement. Responsibilities include: guiding student leaders in learning and implementing accounting principles needed to administer budgets and allocate funds for student organizations; conducting workshops to prepare organization treasurers for the budget request process and assure compliance with Student Government Association (SGA) Financial Guidelines; chairing the Allocations and SGA Fiscal Committees; and preparing various financial analyses and projections. The incumbent manages the check request process; maintains records and files; facilitates the operation of both the Student Life Operations budget and SGA Checking account; maintains accurate student organizational accounting practices; and organizes and maintains the operational revenue of the Student Union, including, but not limited to, the Office of Student Life, the Knight Club, the Knight Owl concession, and Information Desk.
1.Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or equivalent related work experience.
2.Previous accounting, banking, bookkeeping, or other relevant financial experience. Experience with accounts payable or purchasing preferred. Experience with student organizations a plus..
3.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with an aptitude for figures and reconciliations.
4.Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Quicken, and GoogleDocs.
5.Ability to master policies related to student organizations, fiscal management of the Office of Student Life and the Student Union, and general university guidelines.
6.Sound oral and written communication skills.
7.Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
8.Ability to be assertive when enforcing policy, while establishing good rapport with students and the university community.
9.Ability to work in a hectic, student-friendly environment with frequent interruptions.
10.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
