Reporting to the Controller, and working with the Payroll Accountant and Accounts Payable Accountant, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that College Track can identify all financial transactions, ensures that all transactions are properly authorized, documented and recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and helps ensure that policies and procedures are in place to safeguard assets. The Senior Accountant also ensures that financial reports are prepared timely.
In 2017/18, College Track will have nearly $23 million budget made up of a diversified portfolio including foundations, individual donations, large events and auctions, and partnerships, tax credits, and government contracts.
Primary responsibilities include, managing and executing:
Audit and tax prep
Donations and capital records
Monthly budget-to-actuals for Centers
Center support and training in finance documentation/reporting
Accrual financial statements for the CEO monthly and the board 8 times per year; monthly cash reports
Government contracts tracking and reporting
Restricted funds tracking and reporting
Donations and events revenue tracking
Auctions tracking and records
Regular administrative policy assessment
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has three or more years of experience in non-profit accounting, particularly with non-profits with budgets of over $10 million. Demonstrable organizational skills, highly-tuned attention to detail, goals orientation, strong communication skills with people from all backgrounds, critical thinking skills and demonstrated history of achieving outcomes. High-level facility with Excel required.
