Encompassing three academic departments, the School of Business offers seven undergraduate majors-Accounting, Business Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Management and Marketing. Business students are afforded many opportunities to pursue double majors. The school also offers a small but growing MBA that is offered both in our traditional classroom setting and fully online. Reporting to the provost, the dean works with the associate dean to provide leadership and support for strategic planning and policy formation, faculty development, faculty personnel matters as they relate to hiring, promotion and tenure, curriculum development strategies to enhance teaching and learning, budget, student development, academic advising, and assessment. In addition, the dean will work with the assistant dean for career development.
The dean will build a strong network of relationships in the greater New York community, raising the profile, contributing substantially to the College's fundraising efforts, establishing opportunities for collaboration between the College and the business community, and developing other opportunities and resources to strengthen the school and support its students and faculty. The successful candidate will have significant executive leadership experience and must represent the school's academic programs effectively to the public, media, alumni/ae, donors, and the Manhattan College Board of Trustees.

An understanding of and appreciation for the distinctive qualities of Manhattan College, particularly its Catholic Lasallian heritage, as well as contemporary issues in higher education
Significant experience as a leader, with a strong record of building networks of valuable relationships
Excellent communication and mentoring skills and an ability to engender trust through integrity, openness, accessibility, and transparency; strong listening and motivational skills
A strong commitment to enhancing institutional diversity
Ability to motivate and support creative activity, research, and programs within and across academic disciplines
An understanding of the importance of shared governance, collaboration, delegation, and the ability to model and nurture a highly effective professional environment
Ability to serve as an articulate and passionate advocate on behalf of the school's needs and aspirations, both on and off campus
A record of success as an administrator, including successful command of budget, management, and personnel issues
A record of service as a loyal team member who can work effectively with chairs, Board of Advisors, other deans, and the Office of the Provost to promote school initiatives
Strong personal qualities including an open, caring, and reflective approach, a deep commitment to integrity and honesty, and a sense of humor
A terminal degree in a business-relevant field is expected but candidates with exceptional qualifications but no terminal degree will be considered
Experience on corporate or other organizational boards is highly valued as is significant civic leadership.
