LLM Career Counselor will provide career counseling and develop job search resources students who are pursuing their LL.M. degree, as well as alumni of the International LL.M. program of the Washington College of Law. This position will focus primarily on foreign-trained LL.M. students but will also provide assistance to domestic LLM students who wish to explore global opportunities.
Regular duties will include counseling individuals on job search strategies, resumes and cover letters, mock interview, job search strategies, training and help with informational interviews, networking. The incumbent will take the lead on all employment-related marketing materials from concept to production oversight. This person will also work closely with the staff of all AUWCL LLM Programs ( ILSP, Law and Government, Trail Advocacy, IP, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law).
The position requires substantial knowledge of the needs of foreign-trained international law students, an understanding of the market trends in international practice including both private and public sector markets, a high level of judgment and analysis, including the ability to weigh and balance multiple goals and responsibilities, and advanced skills interacting effectively with legal employers. Note: This position is not to advise foreign-trained international students about finding permanent employment in the United States. International students can be advised, however, on one year practical training opportunities.
Requires some evening work.

Juris Doctorate or equivalent required. LL.M. highly desirable.
2-3 years of job counseling experience, particularly in the international legal field or 2-3 years legal experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical
Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals, particularly international students and alumni, is imperative
