Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations & Internal Affairs

The University of Hartford, a Division I institution and a member of the America East Conference, Big Sky and the NCAA, invites applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations and Internal Affairs, a 12-month exempt position.
The Associate AD is responsible for the administrative oversight of financial and budgetary operations of the University’s Division I intercollegiate athletics programs, overseeing the Business Office, Ticket Office and Equipment Room. This position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision and evaluation of Athletics staff.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, provides financial expertise in an effort to accomplish departmental fiscal and programmatic goals and objectives by developing and overseeing the Department of Athletics business and associated financial operations.
Serves as a member of the Department of Athletics senior management team, providing appropriate updates, data and information to senior administrative staff regarding athletics budget and long-term financial planning.
Plans, oversees and monitors associated Athletics budgets, monitoring fiscal controls and accountability to maintain prudent fiscal oversight and adherence to University policies and procedures. Works closely with the Budget Office in all fiscal oversight operations. Serves as primary liaison to Human Resources Development on appropriate personnel matters.
Prepares financial reports designed to effectively inform Athletics operational decisions. Develops and adheres to annual fiscal calendar noting deadlines for completing key financial reporting and compliance efforts.
Represents the Department of Athletics with internal and external auditors during the annual audit process. Prepares and reports annual financial statements (EADA and the NCAA Financial Report) for approval by senior officials in compliance with NCAA financial audit guidelines.
Supports fundraising, promotional and public relations activities and events for the Department of Athletics.
Develops and implements clear business policies and procedures for Athletics administration, coaches and staff. Participates in administrative staff meetings to assist with the development and effective operations of the department. Represents the Department of Athletics and/or the University on various internal and external committees as well as at conferences and NCAA events as necessary.
Serves as a program manager to assigned men’s and women’s sport program(s). Directs and/or supports decisions aimed at success of the programs while facilitating a positive learning environment for the student-athletes and coaches through on-going guidance and feedback
Serves as the primary point of contact for all Athletic contracts, agreements and memorandums of understanding. Provides fiscal oversight of facilities rentals, associated revenues and expenditures, enforcing institutional protocols and contractual requirements in compliance with established guidelines and/or policies.Requirements:
Master’s degree required, minimum of five years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience within an organizations financial unit at a Division I Institution or professional sports team/franchise required.
Demonstrated understanding of audit processes.
Ability to work effectively and provide financial guidance and oversight with coaches, administration and support staff within a highly competitive and dynamic NCAA Division I environment.
Experience with use of NCAA IPP Dashboard.
