This position supports the non-academic aspects of the ECU Language Academy (ECULA), and the recruitment and enrollment of full-time degree-seeking international students, as representative of the ECU Office of Global Affairs and of ECULA at events in the US and abroad, and as manager of the international admissions portions of the Office of Global Affairs Website. The position has direct impact on the image, reputation and international success of ECU, the Office of Global Affairs, and ECULA. The position is responsible for planning, organization, and implementation of policies, processes and critical administrative functions with regard to the admission of undergraduate degree-seeking international students and ECULA students. Because it acts as liaison with academic and administrative units across ECU, with academic and administrative units across partner universities abroad and with government entities in the US and abroad, an ability to communicate cross-culturally complex situations and procedures, both internal and external to the organization, is vital. The position may involve travel to professional conferences and travel abroad to represent ECU and recruit students. Enrollment management consists of two separate and distinct groups of activities with different competencies.
The first stage: recruiting – involves developing strategies to increase international enrollment, working with external parties (such as marketing firms, recruiting agencies, government agencies, and student groups) to implement these strategies, and crafting a communication plan with prospective students. These responsibilities are performed by the Assistant Director, International Recruiting.
The second stage: admission of full-time, degree-seeking international undergraduate students and ECULA students which involves working with students on an individual basis to ensure that all application materials are collected, cataloged, and evaluated in a timely manner.
