The Director of Development Operations is responsible for designing and proposing fundraising strategies and implementing development best practices necessary to obtain financial support for the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, needs of the Sisters, and PHJC ministries. The development department of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ serves as the fundraising umbrella for the PHJC Sisters’ needs, PHJC ministries within the American province and internationally as the need arises.
Execute individual business plan to exceed revenue goals specifically related to growth and new income sources to provide financial sustainability for all PHJC ministries.
Provide oversight and conduct planning and implementation for all Development special events, in consultation with ministry leaders.
Build new and maintain existing sponsor relationships through effective communication. Transform new sponsors into committed supporters through identification of shared goals and values.
Provides education to leadership, ministry leaders, ministry staff and volunteers that furthers each ministry’s understanding of fundraising principles and best practices.
Prepares and manages ASI and Ministry Center development budgets.
Manages Development department, providing oversight and supervision of responsibilities.
Coordinates closely with ministry leaders in the development and submission of grant proposals.
Works closely with Development team to prepare an annual calendar of special events, appeals, and other development activities with a goal to reduce overlapping activities and donor fatigue.
Manages a personal portfolio of major donors.
Engages ministries leader trainings focused on financial planning, wealth management, and deferred giving.
Maintains a collaborative relationship with the Director of Communications and Marketing.
Must embrace the Mission and values of The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
5-7 years of significant experience and leadership in development, fund raising and governance as well as proven experience in providing leadership, strategic vision and goal achievement in a team-oriented environment
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/ or related field
Must have strong project management/ organizational skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple and diverse priorities. Strong collaborative skills and a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience with Raiser's Edge fundraising software, particularly as it relates to database reporting, is necessary.
A history of community involvement and the ability to establish a positive presence for the Sisters within their areas of service and ministry;
Excellent leadership and management skills and the ability to coordinate development and communications as a unified partnership;
Highly skilled with Microsoft Office suite of products
Traveling is required to perform assigned tasks; ability to operate a motor vehicle. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
