ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital is a 151-bed non-profit teaching hospital that caters to the hospitalization needs of children and adolescents. We are the region's only hospital exclusively for children accredited by the Joint Commission. Our NICU is the region's largest (60 beds) Level III NICU caring for newborns who need intense medical attention. The unit has individual patient rooms designed to mimic the sheltered environment of a mother's womb. With the addition of our new Generations Tower in 2020, our NICU will increase bed size to 73 beds. Our expert team uses the latest technology and resources to care for premature babies as early as 22 weeks gestation and as small as 400 grams (14 oz). ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital has been one of the world leaders in neurally adjusted ventilator assist (NAVA).
We have physician on staff 24/7. We have a comprehensive team of neonatologist, neonatal nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, clinical pharmacists, social workers, neonatal dietitian, breastfeeding specialist, and NICU Flight team. More than 350 babies per year are transported to ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital’s newborn intensive care unit, which serves more than 29 hospitals across 27 counties in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
Job Summary: Directs and manages the clinical and support services associated with the Neonatal ICU and administers the nursing program to coordinate corporate, hospital and unit goals. Reviews, develops and implements policies and procedures; maintains and improves level of patient care and the standards of care in areas of responsibility; assures compliance with established standards of practice and regulatory requirements by all assigned personnel. Actively participates in the creation of an environment that fosters patient, physician and associate satisfaction.
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must be currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Ohio.
Master’s degree required.
Must have a minimum of three years of NICU experience.
Must have three to five years progressive management experience.
Experience working in academic setting desired.
Requires experience in budgets, strategic planning and program development.
Must be able to function in an interdisciplinary team.
Must have knowledge, understand and commitment to professional nursing, clinical excellence and quality safety.
Must have current CPR certification for healthcare providers.
NRP Certification required.
