The Vice President of Clinical Performance will lead and supervise clinical improvement efforts across the continuum of care within SCL Health. This Physician Executive will partner with the Director of Quality and report to the System Chief Medical Officer. As part of the system Quality, Risk and Safety team, this leader will have responsibility for reductions in care variation through data-driven and evidence-based methods, integration of care from acute care settings to ambulatory and post-acute, establishing care pathways, work with alternative payment models and supporting system wide service lines. The Physician Executive will work closely with the Chief Medical Information Officer, the President of Provider Services and Medical Groups, SVP of Population Health, and care site Chief Medical Officers.
Improves Value through Optimizing and Integrating Clinical Operations across the Continuum:
Coordinates and organizes activities of clinical analytics, evidence-based medicine, and PI resources (implementation) to support care site leadership teams and system service lines;
Works closely with CMIO and clinical informatics to prioritize the incorporation of clinical standards and decision support tools into electronic health records;
Supports identification of opportunities and development of strategic plans to reduce clinical and operational variation;
Provides clinical input in data governance to optimize accuracy and availability of clinical data to drive analytic abilities;
Facilitates collaboration across hospital, medical group, home health and population health work streams to enhance coordination of care;
Develops methods for engaging physician leaders in clinical supply chain activities and improvement activities;
Collaborates with SVP of Population Health in identifying and leveraging clinical operational and strategic opportunities in value and risk-based programs;
Provides physician leadership support as needed for CIN / ACO and other population health initiatives;
Ensures performance data (spend, outcome, member satisfaction, membership growth, star rating, utilization trends, etc.) are shared with and understood by clinical leadership to prioritize work plan development.
Supports and develops key clinical service lines:
At the direction of leadership, provides clinical support for the key clinical service lines based on identified clinical strategic and operational needs, ensuring appropriate physician-administrator dyads are identified for each;
Working intimately with the leaders of these groups as a vehicle for achieving clinical and operational improvements related to variation in quality, safety, and efficiency;
Supports dyads in identifying and developing program standards and capabilities for success in value-based settings;
Facilitates mobilization of resources (analytics, evidence-based medicine, process improvement), as well as clinical IT, to support activities of service lines.
Active medical license is required. (Current Board Certification)
Additional certification in Quality, Safety or Process Improvement, preferred.
Ten years progressive leadership experience with at least the last 5 in a full-time leadership role. The majority of this leadership should involve oversight of performance improvement, quality, safety and leadership of clinical teams.
Experience in acute and ambulatory care areas with exposure to post-acute care environments, preferred. Work with CINs, ACOs, bundled payment programs and other alternate payment models, preferred.
Quality, safety and/or Lean training is highly desirable.
