The Director of Quality and Professional Practice will be responsible for:
Providing leadership, consultation, and oversight in all aspects of nursing quality and practice at all levels throughout the hospital to promote the highest level of patient safety and healthcare outcomes.
Identifying, developing, and implementing the Nursing/Patient Services Department’s quality initiatives and projects.
Collaborating with the CNO and/or Associate Chiefs for Patient Services and shared governance councils to ensure an organizational culture that encourages and supports quality, pursuit of new metrics, the development and evaluation of improvement plans, and dissemination of findings.
Working with departmental and divisional leadership to identify and define strategic objectives and leadership priorities related to quality and practice; as well as implementing strategic plans that lead to the development of new outcome measures.
Developing QI activities that support departmental, and organizational strategic goals. Delivering sustainable operational improvements in quality.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field with a strong understanding of quality. PhD or DNP preferred. Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
6-8 years’ experience as a clinical nurse in a leadership role. Expertise in nursing practice, education, and quality improvement strategies and demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement and/or process improvement activities..
The ability to effectively influence, persuade and negotiate with peer-level department heads, and/or with external agencies/facilities to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing measurement of quality metrics and programs that impact practice and quality.
Strong statistical background, as well as data management and analysis methods. Strong computer skills and database experience.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in?depth, cross?functional experienced?based knowledge including synthesis of various data source.
The ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. Ability to drive complex processes to conclusion through working across departmental lines and coordinating disparate activities. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.?
A current MA RN License.
