Reporting to the Director of Strategic Relations, the Member Engagement Manager works with the membership team and all NACo departments to advance membership goals. The position is responsible for creating and implementing data-driven strategies and programs that result in membership recruitment, retention, engagement and growth.
The position devises and implements marketing plans that communicate the value of NACo membership. The position is also responsible for managing member-exclusive benefits and examining potential membership benefits.
The Member Engagement Manager works with the Director of Strategic Relations to interface with state associations of counties and requires extensive travel to their conferences throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and implements membership strategies for the recruitment, retention and engagement of county officials across the nation
Partners with NACo members and all NACo staff to advance membership goals
Develops membership marketing plans, leads implementation and tracks results
Tracks, analyzes and reports membership data
Manages the membership portion of the NACo website
Prepares and manages the membership team budget
Maintains effective membership operations, including the membership database, billing and invoicing
Motivates NACo employees to enter relevant membership data into the database
Develops and oversees member-exclusive benefits
Responds to member requests and inquiries
Serves as the liaison to the Membership Committee
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of membership association experience with increasing responsibilities
Familiarity with county government and elected officials
An ability to work with and build consensus among diverse groups
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exemplary planning and organizational skills
Strong leadership skills, ability to work with all members of the team and other employees
Creative, innovative and self-motivated
Established record of financial planning and program management
Ability to analyze and report quantitative membership related data
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Association AMS (databases), financial systems and standard computer software
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to travel 50 percent of the time
