Department Name: 3CP20:Phys Plt-Recycling Operations
Reporting directly to the Waste, Recycling and Trucking Services Manager, the Recycling Coordinator performs waste audits for the University of Kentucky – Lexington Campus and UK HealthCare; Evaluates and analyzes waste audit findings and proposes changes and/or adjustments, as needed; Monitors on-going participation in programs and implements authorized changes necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; Participates in the preparation of Recycling and Diversion Plans; Coordinates Recycling and Diversion Plan implementation which may include: deploying containers (bins, carts, etc.); providing signage and placement of containers; and conducting faculty, staff, and student training; Troubleshoots and addresses concerns which may arise with the Recycling and Diversion Programs; Reads and interprets business manuals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations to ensure regulatory compliance; and Assists with the implementation of the UK Sustainability Master Plan.
In addition, this position participates in the development and implementation of recycling education and awareness programs/projects for UK Campus and UK HealthCare, including outreach campaigns, networking, and occasional field trips; Researches other institutional recycling and diversion ‘best practices’ and assesses for effectiveness; Builds collaborative relationships and partnerships with various University groups; Creates, implements, promotes, maintains, and expands new and existing programs; Functions as recycling resources liaison to campus, dining, housing, athletics, and healthcare, as well as the community, regarding programs, operations, collection, consolidation, promotions, and training; Motivates, develops, and speaks directly to people and/or organizations regarding Recycling and Diversion Programs and resource conservation; and Explores various recycling operations and promotional ideas.
