Metropolitan State University, America's premier university for lifelong learning, is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Provost for Student Success. This is a full-time, position within the Provost's office. This position reports directly to the Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic and Student affairs. S/he oversees functions directly related to issues of retention and ultimate graduation of students from Metropolitan State University.
Responsibilities include: provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction to the comprehensive array of services, policies, and initiatives related to student retention, persistence, completion, and success. S/he plans, manages, and evaluates operational, financial, and personnel activities in the Academic and Student Affairs Division. The Associate Provost works in a manner that serves the best interests of students and in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university
The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment, which demonstrates the following leadership competencies:
Provides leadership for retention, persistence, completion, and success initiatives.
Designs and implements a comprehensive program of services and activities to drive student success. In collaboration, formulates student success goals and objectives and oversees achievement of those goals.
Supervises, hires, develops, directs work, and evaluates administrative and support staff within the Academic and Student Affairs Division.
Collaborates with the Provost, Deans and student support leaders to formulate student success goals and objectives; meet/exceed retention and completion rates, and assure that academic and student service and support goals are achieved.
Maintains oversight of all university retention goals and activities, as defined and established by the university leadership.
Provides supervisory support for the following departments: Advising, Placement Assessment and Academic Research, Career Center, Center for Academic Excellence, Center for Accessibility Resources, Counseling Services, Dean of Students, Food for Thought, Healthcare and Wellness Services, International Student Services, Judicial Affairs, Multicultural Affairs, Orientation and Commencement, Student Leadership Development, Student Parent Center, TRIO Programs, Veterans and Military Student Services, and Women/LGBTQ to ensure integration of student success activities with course content.
Develops and evaluates student retention and completion metrics; aligns metrics with state goals and mandates; reports data to the administration, Board of Trustees, State agencies, and other pertinent stakeholders.
Provides effective and efficient management of the student success programs and their human and financial resources; ensures that resources are allocated effectively to achieve objectives for student success; reviews expenses, prepares periodic reports, and develops annual budget recommendations; ensures that programs produce measurable results that are communicated to the campus community
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in higher education administration (such as dean, coordinator, department chair) including 3 years supervisory experience
Excellent communication skills to communicate with a variety of persons and groups
A record as an accomplished academic leader with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
History of working collaboratively with students/staff/faculty in a team environment
A demonstrated commitment to the mission of an urban-focused university
A demonstrated commitment to cultural, ethnic, and gender diversity, affirmative action, and equal opportunity and a history of accomplishment in enhancing campus diversity
Evidence of Computer skills.
An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree from a regionally accredited university
Experience with innovative educational programs, approaches, or modes of delivery
Experience with nontraditional students
Experience with continuing quality improvement and/or organizational development
Administrative leadership experience in a collectively bargained higher education institution.

Salary: This Administrator positon is assigned to a Range 9, as outlined in the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Personnel Plan for Administrators (see link below), and is commensurate with education and experience.
