The Knowledge Management Resources Lead will be the primary point of coordination with practice leaders and others in connection with the development, implementation and maintenance of various Knowledge Management initiatives.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Implementation and ongoing oversight of document automation for the streamlining of drafting, analysis, review and management of legal contracts and documents
Support practices to help them automate their standard documents and to keep their respective collections accurate and up to date
Coordinate with practice members to understand the relevance of component parts of the document and apply logic to those relevancies in order to create optimal automation
Research and instigate new procedures/services that can improve efficiency and document quality
Provide training to lawyers on how to mark-up a document for automation and provide advice on the best practice for document automation
Assist in developing and then provide primary oversight of a global project to improve and standardize Mayer Brown’s production, distribution and storage of transactional closing document sets
Coordinate and implement a global Law Firm Referral system
Promote knowledge sharing through Mayer Brown’s Knowledge processes and systems in order to facilitate seamless exchange of information across systems
Assist with developing, analyzing and reporting of usage and other metrics associated with Knowledge Management tools
Knowledge Governance and Communications
Work with the Knowledge Management Leader and other members of the Knowledge team to develop and implement an internal communication and Knowledge training program to ensure that Mayer Brown’s lawyers and management are aware of available and planned Knowledge resources and projects
Assist in the preparation of quarterly Knowledge status reports to the Chief Operating Officer and the Management Committee
This position requires a lawyer who is or will become admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which the position is located
Five or more years of practice experience in a large law firm or corporate/financial institution legal department with several years of Knowledge Management experience, in particularly document automation, strongly preferred
Experience with document automation tools (e.g. ContractExpress or Exari) and related technologies and transactional document deconstruction and analysis tools preferred, but not required
Excellent drafting and research skills
Understanding of learning processes and different methods of training
Familiarity and comfort with technology tools of the types typically used in law firms
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with firm practice leaders and firm management
Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to lead projects
Open to travel as needed
