Serves as Veterans Retention Advisor for the Veterans' BSN Program. Provides individualized academic advising, mentoring, skill development, and other forms of support to military veteran nursing students to facilitate successful program completion and graduation. Develops individualized plans of study that award credit and/or advanced placement for previous education and experience. Is knowledgeable about referral sources for various issues and problems the military veteran student may encounter and initiates and follows-up on referrals as appropriate. Provides assigned teaching responsibilities in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings. Plans, implements and evaluates academic curriculum. Participates in scholarship, committee work, and service activities.
This position is funded by a HRSA Grant awarded to Jefferson College to develop and provide an innovative and flexible approach to an educational program that will reduce the barriers faced by veterans desiring to transition into a nursing career. The Veterans' BSN Program will serve that purpose.
Education: Minimum of MSN required. Doctorate degree in nursing or related field is preferred.
Experience: Must be a military veteran from any branch of the armed services. Recent academic teaching experience is required. Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience.
Licensure/Registry/Certification: Current RN licensure required.
