And you'll do your life's best work.(sm) The role of the Medical Records Supervisor is to oversee a team of medical records staff, including team leaders, downloaders, sorters and/or auditors. The Medical Records Supervisor Primary Responsibilities: Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities for a team within the Medical Records department responsible for the downloading, sorting and indexing of electronic medical records Implement and ensure strict adherence to the Privacy Act of 1974 Ensure team work assignments are processed promptly and efficiently Interact with other MSLA - VA team members regarding requests for medical records Analyze staff productivity, performance, and quality to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity goals Report team progress and develop action plans with due dates to improve outcomes Coach, mentor, and train staff and evaluate staff performance Interpret, enhance and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff Resolve problems and make changes to accommodate changing priorities and needs Recommend improvements to process flows, processes and procedures Conduct regular meetings with staff to discuss performance, engagement and address issues All other duties assigned by Management
Primary Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or a combination of education / 3+ year's work experience 2+ years of directly managing and leading staff 2+ years of experience working with medical and diagnostic reports 2+ years of experience working with document manipulation software, such as Adobe or eCopy Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) Familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostics and healthcare medical coding (HCPCS) system Preferred Qualifications: Federal Government Security Clearance Medical Terminology Certificate Experience working with government contracts Experience managing remote staff Ability to lead, manage, direct and motivate staff and possess the skills to delegate and supervise subordinates Ability to work independently and in conjunction with team members at all levels of the organization Skilled in establishing effective interpersonal relationships Ability to prioritize workload under aggressive timelines while managing multiple projects and adapt to a changing business environment Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized and adaptable Excellent public speaking and presentation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow routine procedures consistently and efficiently Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Ability to consistently follow through to complete objectives Ability to analyze and trend operational data Presents a courteous and competent demeanor Acts with honor and integrity, serving as a role model for the company Careers with Optum.
