Essential Job Duties:
Assistant Directors are responsible for the major programmatic functions in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and also responsible for counseling a financial aid populations of approximately 2,800 students each.
This position will work primarily with the scholarship programs with the following general responsibilities:
Responsible for the selection, notification, renewal and account/budget management of scholarship programs including, but not limited to, programs with the NC State Foundation, the Endowment Fund, the Alumni Association, the Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship, the NC State Education Assistance Authority grant and scholarship programs, non-NC State grant and scholarship programs, and other annual contributions of scholarships. Each of these funds have their own unique scholarship criteria and management process with a total volume of over three million dollars.
Responsible for processing of college/departmental awarded scholarships through the comprehensive scholarship platform AcademicWorks, including, but not limited to, establishing new financial aid accounts, posting and revising financial aid awards, generating reports, and providing need data to departmental contacts. Each of these funds have their own unique scholarship criteria and management process with a total volume of over eight million dollars.
Responsible for the processing of outside scholarship funds including, but not limited to, paper checks, electronic fund transfers, posting and revising financial aid awards, and providing invoices and verification of enrollment to scholarship donors. Each of these funds have their own unique scholarship criteria and management process with a total volume of over five million dollars. In addition, this position will carry out the following general responsibilities consistent with other Assistant Directors in the office.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.
A minimum of three years of relevant experience in scholarship and/or financial aid programs; thorough knowledge of administering rules and regulations governing state and federal student aid programs;exceptional written and oral communication skills, along with demonstrated leadership and counseling skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills. In some cases, individuals may possess an unusual aptitude for this level of responsibility and may lack one or more of the above requirements. Nonetheless, each of the above requirements is expected of the overwhelming majority of successful candidates.
