Under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs Budgets this position is responsible for overseeing the customer services and administrative services of the Student Activities Business Office (SABO).
Customer service will emphasize welcoming customers who come to SABO to conduct financial transactions. These transactions can be with students, staff, or faculty. This may include receiving deposits, expense reimbursements, direct pay request, and petty cash request. Customer service will also include researching and answering questions requested by the customer. This may be in the form of one on one interaction, telephone conversations, or via e-mail. Maintain a high level of customer service.
Administrative services will include preparing all customer Accounts Payable paperwork, to be submitted to the Universities Accounts Payable department for payment processing. This includes reviewing the submitted documents for accuracy, and insuring there are sufficient funds for payment. Accounts payable preparing will also include handling stop payments and returned checks.
Other administrative services duties include, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, processing the weekly payroll for the Student Government Association (SGA), Resident Student Association (RSA), and SABO work study, maintaining the office filing system, order office supplies for SABO and student groups, reconcile the petty cash and cash deposits on a daily basis, and assist the Director and Assistant Directors as needed.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present his/her views with clarity and confidence. Must possess good interpersonal skills, ability to listen to others and to be sensitive to needs of the customers. S/he must be able to work in pressure situations, having the ability to prioritize their work. This person must have the ability to work within deadlines and should achieve their targeted goals. The ability to be flexible and respond quickly to requests is imperative. Must be self-motivated, willing to work with little to no direction. Also, must be well organized, utilizing good time management. S/he must be able to work well in a diverse environment, displaying good social skills.
This position requires the following qualifications Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance required, Bachelors Degree preferred. 2-3 years accounting experience preferably in accounts payable, including 1-2 years of operational support. Must have excellent communication skills, written as well as verbal. Ability to work with others at all levels, in a sensitive and tactful manner. Attention to detail, maintaining accurate records to ensure analysis and reports are correct. Must work positively as a member of a team, exhibiting effective teamwork. Familiar with Excel, Word, Power Point, Share Point, Outlook, and Banner. Maintain high standards of customer service in the Student Activities Business Office.
