We are now hiring for a full-time Senior Grant Writer to join our External Affairs Team!
The Senior Grant Writer is responsible for managing a portfolio of relationships with private institutions that fund Metropolitan Family Services (Metropolitan). The Senior Grant Writer will coordinate plans to cultivate, solicit, and steward support from foundation, corporation, and other organization-based sources. The Sr. Grant Writer works to initiate, secure and steward new relationships with private institutions to support the Campaign to Mpower Families, newly acquired projects, and other priorities as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Grants and Foundations.
Essential Job Functions:
Identifies private and public institutional prospects and conduct research to determine their levels of philanthropic affinity and capacity.
Develops, manages, and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies for private institutional financial support.
Develops, manages, and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies for private institutional capital financial support.
Arranges and coordinates cultivation, stewardship, and recognition activities including site visits for private institutional sponsors and donors.
Coordinates with team to ensure the accurate tracking of private institutional donations/gift commitments in Raiser’s Edge.
Coordinates proposal development agency-wide with appropriate executive, supervisory, and program staff.
Works closely with supervisory staff to review and implement solicitation and cultivation strategies.
Supervise contractual staff as needed.
Knowledge of and practice utilizing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, in the areas of private and public institutional fund raising.
Demonstrated proposal-writing expertise.
Experience in government grants development.
Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining updated information on the giving programs of private and public institutional partners.
Self-motivated and disciplined to achieve agreed upon goals.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills.
Ability to make professional presentations, including public speaking
Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective private and public institutional donors/prospects.
Demonstrated ability to take on projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.
Demonstrated record of success in generating commitments from private and public institutions to fund capital projects, agency programs, and general operations.
Dedication to working collaboratively and flexibly within the department and organization
Availability to work outside daily work hours, as necessary
Ability to perform job duties well within a team.
Must have a valid Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and access to a vehicle to perform the essential job functions.
A Bachelor’s degree in discipline required
Three (3) to five (5) years grant writing experience required.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs and use of relational databases such as Raiser’s Edge.
Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver’s license to perform essential job functions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
