The Unit on Cellular and Molecular Neurodevelopment at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, MD is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral candidates to join our laboratory (https://science.nichd.nih.gov/confluence/display/petros/Home). The Unit on Cellular and Molecular Neurodevelopment is focused on understanding the cellular, molecular and environmental mechanisms that regulate the diversity and maturation of GABAergic interneurons, an incredibly heterogeneous cell population that play a prominent role in all brain function. We utilize a variety of approaches in our lab, including (but not limited to) in utero electroporation, cell transplantations, stem cells, both population and single cell RNAseq, and numerous approaches to manipulate gene expression.

Skills and Qualifications:
Ph.D. and/or M.D. in neuroscience, neurobiology, development, cell biology, genetics or related discipline
Strong work ethic and ability to design, carry out and analyze independent projects that encompass the overall theme of the lab
Preferred skills, though not required, include a strong background in neurodevelopment, genetics, molecular and cellular biology, mouse surgeries, and/or cell culture
We are particularly interested in candidates with significant experience on next generation sequence experiments and analysis
