The primary purpose of the Manager, Hospital Compensation is to provide leadership for a team of compensation professionals who are responsible for hospital compensation programs plan administration, providing proactive and collaborative customer service, communication and reporting to hospital and field leadership associates. The Manager, Hospital Compensation is also accountable for ensuring that hospital compensation programs are competitive and consistently administered in compliance with practice policies and government regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Assess the knowledge, abilities and skill levels necessary to achieve the Hospital Compensation Team’s business objectives, and develop appropriate plans for team development.
Lead hospital compensation projects, mentoring direct reports to leverage additional support.
Plan and forecast support for Hospital Compensation Team, providing overall prioritization of work assignments and management of team resources.
Facilitate development of education materials and effective communication plans for delivery of compensation programs to hospital associates.
Collaborate with Total Rewards and P&O leadership on rewards strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and Banfield / Mars Rewards Principles.
Collaborate with the Veterinary Health Group (VHG) Rewards Teams on cross-segment Rewards initiatives.
Identify and implement improvements to administrative process flows, compensation-related communications and governance.
Represent Compensation on cross-functional project teams, fostering positive relationships with other participants.
Ensure team has technical expertise on Oracle Incentive Compensation (OIC) and Compensation Workbench (CWB).
Understand the practice’s business strategies and the potential impact on current and future compensation plan design and administration.
Formulate proposals for new and existing compensation plans to maintain the practice’s competitive position in the labor market, as needed.
Implement new and update existing compensation programs , including analysis, proposal, plan documents, communications, training, and other media as needed (i.e. Skype conferences, My Learning courses, etc.).
Maintain awareness of federal and state laws pertaining to compensation and their potential impact on the practice’s compensation plans.
Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable laws and practice policies regarding compensation.
Address escalated compensation inquiries to ensure quality customer service.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience in a compensation role with experience in base pay administration, variable pay administration and third-party market survey analysis.
Minimum 2 years direct supervisory experience managing professional level associates.
Strong working knowledge of the Oracle HRMS, OIC, CWB and Dayforce (Ceridian) Timekeeping & Payroll (or equivalent) applications required, along with the ability to analyze and audit data from these systems.
Strong problem solving, project management, communication and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of standard compensation best practices required with working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
WorldatWork Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with other areas of human resources preferred.
Prefer health care background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.).
