The Director of Gift Administration oversees donor services and planned gift and endowment administration, and directs daily operations required to process, receipt and acknowledge donations coming through the Foundation.
Oversee all aspects of gift administration and manage the day to day activities of the donor services team to ensure appropriate acceptance and completion of current and deferred gifts. Interface with the Office of the Treasurer, the Chief Financial Officer and the Donor Services team, to ensure timely processing and posting of gifts, regular distributions to donors and final disbursements to beneficiaries.
Assist the president with preparation and oversight for board and committee meetings of the Endowment Fund Board of Trustees including drafting agendas and action items, coordinating development and receipt of reports, and ensuring governance requirements are met and all communication is timely.
Work with donors, partners and beneficiaries as needed to help with charitable gift annuities, trusts, endowments and other gifts to be administered by the ELCA Foundation.
Convene and moderate the Special Gifts Committee and ensure appropriate process for decision-making around gift acceptance.
Assist the Director of the ELCA Foundation in setting the strategic direction of the donor services program and supporting relationships with synods and partnerships.
Maintain an on-going proficiency in tax and legal matters as they pertain to planned giving. Work with outside counsel to draft gift agreements and internal counsel and compliance to ensure adherence to state regulations.

Seven years’ experience and proficiency in tax and legal matters as they pertain to planned giving. College degree required. Estate planning attorney preferred.
Demonstrated experience in planning, leading and managing projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking progress to senior staff and partnership members.
Excellent communication and administration skills, including staff development experience and proficiency. Demonstrated experience with PGCalc, CRM systems and trust processing software.
Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and inspire the confidence of, donors, their families and their legal and financial advisors, as well as internal colleagues and regional gift planners.
