RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Associate-Research with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Build and maintain company and industry financial and supply/demand models. Monitor oil and gas prices, offshore and onshore drilling rig activity, demand for pressure pumping, frac sand and specialized oil services equipment and incorporate the information in stock recommendations. Utilize advanced research analysis tools such as FactSet, Thomson Reuters, ThomsonONE, Bloomberg and oil and gas industry specific databases such as IHS Petrodata, RigData, and Baker Hughes rig count. Analyze Oil Service stocks as investment opportunities, develop investment framework, and perform analysis to aid in developing an investment view on stocks. Interact extensively with senior management (CEO/CFO/Investor Relations) of Oil Service companies. Publish Oil Service industry reports and company specific reports. Respond to requests for bespoke quantitative analysis from external clients and internal teams on investment ideas and sector views. Interact (reactively and proactively) with clients, sales force, and traders to discuss views on the Oil Service sector and the team's investment theses. Research structural issues impacting the US shale and global oil industry, and recommend actionable investment ideas that result from industry research. Supervise two (2) Analysts.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related role. Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related equity research position. Prior work experience must include three (3) years: Utilizing understanding of the oil and gas industry and the key drivers of oil and gas stocks; Bringing initial public offerings to market from due diligence through initiation stages; Conducting financial statement analysis and financial modeling, including experience in accounting for M&A, international and state taxation, and changes in capital structure; Conducting valuation analyses to develop absolute valuation methodologies, relative valuation methodologies (including with normalized valuation frameworks), calculation of returns on investment, sensitivity analyses, and capital structure analyses; Interacting with C-level management and investor relations client teams; Marketing investment ideas; Utilizing financial databases including FacSet, Bloomberg, ThomsonONE; Utilizing Microsoft Excel, including creation of pivot tables, logical functions, data tables, Powerpoint, and Word; Utilizing knowledge of statistical techniques and general macro modeling in order to conduct analysis (including multi factor regression, backtests and trend analysis) to identify and test the efficacy of broad themes and specific ideas. FINRA Series 7, 86, 87 and 63 licenses required.
