The Department of Pharmacy Practice within Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) invites applications for an Assistant/Associatel Professor of Pharmacy Practice position in the area of pharmacogenomics, effective Summer 2018. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment that reports to the Department Chair of Pharmacy Practice.
CUSP seeks highly motivated applicants to join its faculty to participate in the development and delivery of professional and graduate programs in the first school of pharmacy in Orange County, California. Located on the Chapman University Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine, California, CUSP will engage students in a science-based, personalized, and interdisciplinary education using flipped classroom model. Chapman University has made significant infrastructure investments to enhance biomedical and pharmaceutical research programs. The pharmacogenomics pharmacist faculty will have a strong commitment to an academic career emphasizing innovative educational, clinical service, and scholarly activities. The individual will be responsible for maintenance of a pharmacogenomics-focused practice site, experiential teaching, and direct patient care. At the practice site, the pharmacogenomics pharmacist faculty should work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to manage patient drug therapy, provide patient education, optimize medication regimens and clinical outcomes for patients, and promote high quality, evidence-based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care. Experience in developing and implementing pharmacy services in either a hospital or primary care setting is desired.
A Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy and current California pharmacist licensure or eligible for licensure in 6 months, as well as post-doctoral residency training and/or fellowship or equivalent work experience in a wide range of acute care or ambulatory care settings are required. Applicants with experience or training in pharmacogenomics are highly desired.
For appointment at the Associate Professor level, significant record of accomplishment in scholarship, teaching, practice, and service are required.
Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with student pharmacists, postdoctoral residents/fellows, and faculty within the University and at the practice site. A commitment to teamwork is required.
This pharmacogenomics faculty position reports to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and would be expected to:
1. Develop, coordinate, and deliver didactic and experiential education in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program as assigned by the Department Chair.
2. Engage in practice-based or other scholarly activities in support of the School’s research and innovation mission.
3. Serve as a student advisor.
4. Serve on Department, School, University and practice site committees.
5. Actively participate in professional organizations and community outreach to promote CUSP.
6. Enhance or develop a pharmacogenomics practice site.
