The Department of Pathology at the University of Iowa Health Care is currently accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist opening. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals seeking to work in a fast paced learning environment within our Molecular Pathology Laboratory.
Duties: Utilizing a variety of procedures involving highly complex molecular analytical test methodologies and techniques, perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory analysis on biological specimens such as blood, tissue and body fluids. These procedures will utilize a variety of highly complex testing platforms and including Next Generation Sequencing, real-time PCR, RT-PCR, primer design and southern blot hybridization that require the use of professional judgment to provide technical expertise and information used to diagnose or treat disease.
This position will be filled as a Medical Laboratory Technician or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
Starting salary for a Medical Lab Technician is $41,970, and the starting salary for a Medical Lab Scientist is $45,372 annually, salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
This position is first shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
