Position Description: The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific is seeking applicants for a full-time 11-month position at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor, tenure track. Applications will be reviewed immediately and review will be on-going until the positions are filled. The primary teaching opportunities for this position are specific to knowledge and expertise in patient management including general and specialized populations, examination and evaluation, prosthetics and orthotics, integumentary physical therapy, physical agents, and adjunct modalities. The ideal candidate will have a substantial amount of broad clinical experience with a variety of patient populations in a variety of clinical settings.
The University of the Pacific in Northern California has offered concise programs culminating in an accredited degree in physical therapy for 30 years, and began offering the DPT degree in 2003. The successful candidate will join a department of dynamic full-time and adjunct clinical faculty dedicated to preparing our students to be physical therapists and leaders who will have purposeful, meaningful, and positive impacts on health and society.
University of the Pacific is an independent, comprehensive academic institution in the Central Valley in Stockton, California, with the Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco and the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. Stockton is about 1.5 hours from both San Francisco and the Sierra Nevada mountains. University of the Pacific in Stockton has approximately 5,000 students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences and Schools of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Education, Engineering, Business, Music, and International Studies. The Department of Physical Therapy is a part of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and currently enrolls 36 students annually. The Department enjoys state-of-the-art classrooms and dedicated clinic and research space and equipment.
Basic Qualifications: In addition to fulfilling and excelling in teaching responsibilities, the faculty member must be a productive scholar with a commitment to university service.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
Earned academic doctorate (e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc)
Licensure or eligibility for PT licensure in California at time of hire
3 years of full time clinical experience as a licensed PT working with diverse clientele
3 years experience in full time teaching and research position in a CAPTE-accredited PT program
Experience with academic administration
Interest in potentially serving in program leadership position
