The Associate Registrar will be involved in a wide range of student services duties and responsibilities for Law School. Provides assistance to the dean/chair, faculty, and students in academic advising, recruitment, admissions, financial aid, course coordination/scheduling, student orientation, degree auditing and Bar certification.
•Develops the academic year schedule of classes in consultation with the Assistant Dean for Academic Planning and Curriculum Coordination. •Coordinates faculty and curriculum needs with room availability to provide the best scheduling options for maximum student accessibility to key courses. •Coordinates class schedule with EMS systems. •Sets up and maintains online class schedule and course and class information in CS. •Within an academic department/school/college or organization, provides student services in the following areas: Advises faculty and students of Law School procedures, policies and deadlines. •Provides detailed and specialized knowledge of the CalCentral enrollment process as it relates to law students. •Query databases for student compliance with ABA and law school rules and in response to data requests. •Identify problems and correct information in databases. •Alert students who have outstanding issues. •Processes award letters, including Dean’s List and Order of the Coif.Knowledge/Skills: •Meticulous attention to detail. •Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. •Strong computer skills, with the ability to query campus databases, manipulate data, and create reports. •Strong interpersonal communication skills, including multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations with diplomacy, poise, and tact. •Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. •Excellent ability in problem identification, reasoning; ability to apply creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions within established policies and guidelines. •Ability to multi-task, strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills.
Education/Training: •Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
