The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) seeks nominations and applications for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. ACEC is the voice of the engineering industry in Washington, D.C. and throughout the nation. With roots dating back more than 100 years, ACEC is a federation of 52 state and regional councils representing more than 600,000 engineers, architects, land surveyors and other specialists. The Council's primary mission is to strengthen the business environment for its member firms through government advocacy, political action, and business education.
Reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of all programs and activities of the Council, under the policy guidance of the Executive Committee, and Board of Directors. S/he will be an experienced executive with a deep understanding of the Council's membership who can increase the Council's visibility on the national stage and further its relationships with state and regional councils. Understanding of the engineering industry and the wide range of advocacy on its behalf is key. The successful candidate will also understand the opportunities and challenges facing the Council's members and will focus on attracting and retaining members, both small and large firms. Qualified candidates will likely possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with at least ten years in executive positions. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, and a graduate level degree is preferred.
