General Purpose: Provide financial services to students and departments, including student appointment procedures, student payroll, data management and reporting, approval of federal and non-federal student loans, and monitoring compliance with School, University and external policies governing expenditure of funds.
bi-weekly graduate student payments.
tuition expense and revenue recognition.
health care payments.
graduate student teaching assignments.
reconciliation of sub-ledger systems including the training of distributed users.
Budget planning, variance analysis and long range financial modeling for over $170 million of expenditures per year.
Graduate student related tax compliance.
Monitoring of student admission and enrollment status.
Oversight of restricted funds; including assignment of fellowships and stewardship.
Audits as appropriate payments, department entries and sub-ledger contents.
Supervises three staff, distributed user oversight in over 60 programs.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution and leadership skills. Ability to listen and adapt quickly.
Demonstrated ability to manage people on a daily basis and inspire a high level of commitment and performance. Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and analytical skills
Ability to work independently on projects; high level customer service orientation; mediation, negotiation and consensus building skills.
Ability to interact at multiple levels within the organization structure. Ability to work under continual deadlines requiring great attention to detail while managing competing responsibilities.
Exceptional skills using MS Excel or similar software, ability to manipulate, synthesize and analyze financial data. Demonstrated ability to convert raw data into comprehensive financial reports and exhibits.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Master’s Degree in related area. Background in finance, gift accounting and payroll. Experience auditing complex financial analysis and creation of funding models and projections. Financial system design and implementation experience. Experience developing complex financial reports with multiple sources of data. High degree of familiarity with database structures and reporting techniques.
