Responsible for accurately processing and maintaining resident financial files. Submits claims for billing and collects payments from Medicare, Medicaid, and/or private insurance companies. Provides information for audit and survey process.
Assists in preparation and submission of claims and billing to Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance companies and residents according to established Facility procedures.
Reconciles Medicare, Medicaid, insurance company, and resident payments with claims to ensure accuracy of billing and resident accounts receivable.
Tracks census changes, including admissions, discharges, bedholds, level of care changes, and pay source changes. Reports such changes to appropriate vendors, payers, and government agencies according to established Facility procedures.
Reconciles monthly revenue calculations with census figures and accounts receivable aging reports.
Tracks past due invoices, sends payment reminders, and attempts collection by telephone and/or collection agency. Sends adjustments and refunds.
Prepares cost roster related to ancillaries billed for general ledger calculations and accounts payable.
Sets up resident fund accounts; pays resident's bills, and disburses petty cash. Reconciles accounts and reports on same on a monthly basis.
Demonstrates customer service skills in accordance with established Facility guidelines. Acts as resource to residents concerning payment for services received.
Records and maintains required Medicaid and Medicare documentation according to established Facility procedures and state and federal regulations.
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· At least one year of related accounting experience required
· Must have good understanding of accounts receivable Must be able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals, and percentages)
Prefer an Associate Degree
Ability to apply state and federal Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement regulations and specific long-term care accounting practices; communicate professionally with coworkers; use required office equipment proficiently; efficiently and accurately enter data and utilize a PC for a variety of activities; deal with time pressures and stress.
