USMD part of OptumCare is a multi-specialty group of hospital, clinics and physicians. USMD serves the Dallas - Fort Worth metropolitan area with more than 250 physicians and associate practitioners, and provides healthcare services to patients in more than 20 different specialties at its 2 hospitals, 4 cancer treatment centers and nearly 50 physician clinics, many of which are multi-specialty. The Certified Medical Assistant will take general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides medical / nursing assistance under the direction of physician or nursing staff within their certified capabilities. In addition, of consent for treatment form, recording patient information, and scanning. Practices exceptional customer service, answers phone, and assists with the daily operations of the clinic. Communicates and coordinates information in a knowledgeable and courteous manner with staff, patients, and families. Maintains confidentiality with patients, staff, and guests. Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 6:00pm, no nights, weekends or holidays. Primary Responsibilities:Escorts patients to exam rooms interviews patient, measures vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature) and documents in patient's chart Record patients' medical history, health maintenance and chief complaintDocument all patient related communication and interventions in patient's EMRWhere applicable, perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testingCoordinate out-patient testing and referrals, as well as hospital pre-admission when necessaryMaintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, equipment sterilization, etc.)Prepare, restock, and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area, and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals, and as neededTake telephone and e-mail messages, as well as medication refill requests, from patients and provide feedback and answers to patient / physician / pharmacy per physician protocolMaintain confidentiality at all times according to USMD policy and procedures and HIPPA requirementsPerform other duties as assigned by office supervisor, site manager, or practice administrator
Required Qualifications: High School Graduate or GED Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment. Medical Assistants who are hired prior to receiving their certification are expected to perform at the same level as a "certified" Medical Assistant RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) 1+ years of hands on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or provider in a multi-specialty, family practice or internal medicine clinic 1+ years of phlebotomy skills 1+ years of giving injections BLS / CPR certified, upon hire Working knowledge of medical terminology Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds Requires availability to work overtime when needed This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor's diagnosis of diseasePreferred Qualifications:Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office EMR - Nextgen experience 3+ years of hands on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or provider in a multi-specialty, family practice or internal medicine clinicCareers with WellMed.
