Reporting to the University President and to the Construction Management Oversight Committee, the Director of Construction Assurance develops, maintains and implements the construction assurance program for the University and reviews major UCONN 2000 construction projects to ensure conformance with policies, procedures and standards approved by the Construction Management Oversight Committee and established by the University's Board of Trustees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Assists the University of Connecticut's Construction Management Oversight Committee in reviewing the University's management of all completed UCONN 2000 named projects for their conformance with applicable policies and procedures governing the construction of such projects. Each completed review will be submitted to the University of Connecticut, Board of Trustees.
Assists the Construction Management Oversight Committee in preparing, biennially, a summary of construction performance of UCONN 2000, which will be submitted to the University of Connecticut, Board of Trustees.
Reports at least quarterly to the Construction Management Oversight Committee and to the President of the University of Connecticut on the assessments and reviews of UCONN 2000 construction performance.
A Bachelor's Degree and experience in Construction Management, Architecture, Accounting, Auditing or comparable field is required. An equivalent combination of credentials and/or experience may also be considered.
Thorough knowledge of construction contract negotiations, management, RFP procedures; general knowledge of construction "Best Practices" and construction budgeting and reporting; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and the ability to develop, foster and maintain constructive and effective professional relationships with members of the University community, state regulators, legislators, corporate partners and others;
Knowledge of CT state laws and building codes.
This is a full-year, part-time position located at the Storrs campus with travel to UConn’s regional campuses and other locations as needed.
