Posting Summary: The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Program Director, GO Virginia in the Office of Economic Development and Engagement. This position will direct the operations of the GO Virginia Region One Council. As the support organization for the Commonwealth's GO VA program, the UVa-Wise Office of Economic Development and Engagement is responsible for supporting the work of the Region One Council, which includes the implementation of the Growth and Diversification Plan, grants management, constituent relations and adherence to the Freedom of Information Act regulations. This position will be responsible for the coordination, direction, and implementation of the council activities in the thirteen county/three-city region and assists in the management of the annual budget preparation and program review. Partnerships formed to support these efforts are diverse: representing government, education, industry, non-profits, entrepreneurs, chambers of commerce, and private foundations. The position will have three main categories of programmatic and administrative responsibilities: system development and strategic planning/execution; operational and financial; and communication and outreach.
A bachelor's degree is required, along with 3-5 years experience working in project management or building regional coalitions and partnerships; knowledge and experience in applying for and administering grants or managing multi-million dollar budgets; experience with business practices, marketing, providing supervision and managing/tracking results; technical proficiency in all MS Office products; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to self-direct, multi-task and supervise and direct others.
