University Services Program Associate (100%) (Financial Aid Services Assistant)

Job Duties: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Services Assistant supports the daily customer service and data processing functions of the Financial Aid Office. This position coordinates student visits with Financial Aid counselors; assists students with completing and submitting forms; and responds to telephone calls and emails and maintains the department web site. This position is also responsible for the daily transfer of data files between the U.S. Department of Education and the PeopleSoft student information system. The Financial Aid Services Assistant also works as the office lead for scanning, tracking and securing documents submitted by students and families to support their financial aid applications. This position also provides general office support by purchasing and maintaining office supplies, keeping the office calendar current and other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Associate’s degree or equivalent progress toward a bachelor’s degree
Prior customer service experience
Prior experience using a computerized customer service data system
Previous experience working in an educational or professional office setting
Good basic writing skills
Basic ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software
General knowledge of the process of applying for and receiving financial aid
Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University’s commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
Over one year customer service experience in an educational institution or a financial services provider
Experience using document imaging systems to retrieve and view documents
Experience creating and/or maintaining web sites
Personal experience applying for and receiving financial aid
Experience using PeopleSoft, Banner CampusVue or other student information systems.
