Job Description Summary: The ideal candidate will work closely with the Sales, Catering and Banquets departments to handle all client or event needs from the beginning to the end, including but not limited to, guestroom accommodations, amenities, VIP's, rooming list, arrival/departure patterns, processing payment methods, vendors, organization of shipment, transportation, on/off site activities, menu specifications, all F&B needs, AV requirements, etc., and any additional tasks as deemed necessary by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
The principal role of this position is to generate revenues in the “social” market by prospecting and soliciting both new and repeat clients. Markets include but not limited to Corporate, Association, Government, and other segments. To be the primary liaison with the hotel operations team and provide consistent feedback with key departments to ensure client success.
Job Description: Aggressively prospect new and repeat clients with daily telephone solicitation goals. Meet and/or achieve booking goals which will be measured on a weekly and/or monthly basis. Maintains relationships with past local business to promote and establish convention business. Establishes familiarization with competition on a regular basis. Outside calls on prospects to solicit business, analyzes requirements of function, outlines available hotel facilities and services offered and quotes prices. Coordinate concentrated and organized Sales Blitz program to canvas the local Corporate marketplace. Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing with budgets and forecasts Meets with potential clients in order to book definite corporate events. Handles all correspondence as it pertains to corporate clients: draws up contracts, obtains signatures, Banquet event orders, ensure proper billing to guest folios and master account. Responsible for arranging all food & beverage details for functions assigned and ensures that all BEO’s and paperwork has been completed properly. Coordinates the preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverage products of functions to ensure highest quality at all times and works with clients to prepare menus and floor plans and assists them in other needs as flowers, photographers, and entertainment. Monitor the performance of the events through verifications and analysis of customer satisfaction systems. Participate in outside sales efforts, including exhibit shows, demonstrations, sales blitzes, speeches, etc. Attend scheduled Sales, Catering, Food and Beverage, departmental, credit and any other meetings as requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing and to fill in for the department head when needed. Daily inspection of meeting rooms for physical appearance/maintenance needs (burned out light bulbs, broken furniture, aligned tables, flowers, plants, clean windows, etc.); coordinates functions and activities with other department heads as appropriate. Communicates the cleaning needs for the physical part of the meeting rooms including maintenance needs of all meeting rooms. Understands and anticipates needs from guests such as any frequent function requests, specially prepared menus. Adheres to all Sonesta Hotel Safety and Sanitation Guidelines. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description. Any other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Background in hospitality/catering/restaurant industry is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, i.e., poised and engaging, empathetic communication styles that can enliven, engage, and positively impact individuals and groups. Ability to partner with all levels of managers, providing a consultative approach and employee relations. Ability to act quickly and efficiently with high degree of professionalism. Customer service orientation. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrates knowledge of job-related processes and systems (i.e. IT systems specific to sales including Delphi and Opera). Has an understanding of culinary terms and liquors.
Additional Salary Information: Eligible for a quarterly sales incentive.
