Position Summary: Contributes to the overall safety and security of students, employees, and LSCS property by maintaining a uniformed presence and contacting police assistance when needed. Projects positive image of LSCS by maintaining pleasant and professional demeanor with students, employees, and visitors. Gives directions, renders assistance, and provides information as requested. Requests assistance from LSCS police officers for law enforcement matters, or off-campus police, fire, and EMS personnel as needed.
Job Functions: Patrols campus grounds and buildings on foot or in vehicle; reports safety hazards and physical security deficiencies verbally and in writing Responds to low-risk calls for service to assess scene and determine the need for police, fire, or EMS response Monitors and responds to fire alarms, checks fire extinguishers while on patrol to ensure that they are in place and charged, reports those that are not Makes written reports regarding suspicious activity Renders vehicle services in the form of jump-starts, assistance with tire-changes, and the calling of wreckers as requested Provides walking escorts for any person who requests one from building to building, or to and from parking lots Responds to incidents after hours, including but not limited to stuck elevators, minor medical calls, maintenance emergencies (plumbing, power outage, etc.), and fire alarms; documents incidents and protects college property until Physical Plant staff is able to respond Locks/unlocks doors as needed on a regular schedule, and as requested by individuals Works fixed-post positions to provide security for buildings, special events, and reception areas as needed Assists LSCS police officers as directed within the scope of their ability to do so Enforces LSCS and department regulations of a non-law enforcement nature (parking, smoking, etc.) Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
Required: High school diploma and at least 2 years of related work experience; an Associate’s degree or higher may be considered in lieu of experience Valid Texas driver’s license
