The AACSB-accredited College of Business serves nearly 2,300 undergraduate and 650 graduate students. One of five colleges at EMU, it employs over 70 tenured and tenure-track faculty members in 12 majors organized into four departments (Accounting and Finance, Computer Information Systems, Management, and Marketing), along with 5 specialty Master's programs and MBA. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Dean is the College's chief academic, executive, and fiscal officer and a member of the University's academic leadership team. The Dean will guide the academic and business planning of the College, advocate for its interests within and outside the University, engage and serve the local and regional business and international community, and work to increase the College's national visibility and to secure the resources necessary to fulfill its ambitions.
Candidates for the position must possess:
Doctoral degree in Business from an AACSB accredited school with a teaching and scholarly record that merits tenure in the College of Business as a full professor.
Demonstrated success in providing intellectual and academic leadership within a College of Business for continuous improvement in scholarship, teaching, curricular design and implementation with the use of technologies that produce measurable results consistent with the Mission.
Relevant knowledge and experience in effective program and facilities planning and development, budgeting, and administration, typically acquired through increasing levels of experience in higher education positions and/or a distinguished record of management and leadership in the private or public sector.
Significant experience in leading, developing and implementing systems for successful AASCB re-accreditation.
Demonstrable success in building a mission-driven, engaged culture within the College through listening and leadership that supports and facilitates faculty, staff and student success.
Demonstrable success leading relationship building and the fundraising effort with alumni, community, and business partners in conjunction with faculty and the development staff in a competitive local philanthropic market.
Success in developing and gaining support across departments and the University for innovative and interdisciplinary programs, and procedures that enhance the mission and effectiveness of the college.
Demonstrable expertise and experience that would support the college's leadership position in globalizing educational programs through curricular development, international programming, and recruitment.
Record of advancing diversity in the recruitment, retention, and development of high-quality faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated success fostering local economic development, innovation, and entrepreneurship efforts.
Success in building collaborations and support for active student groups within the college.
Promotion of academic freedom, shared governance, and faculty and staff input by working successfully within collective-bargaining agreements and supporting our dedicated faculty to balance teaching and research to prepare students with relevant skills and real world awareness.
