The Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive, institution-wide donor relations and stewardship plan that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction and recognition of donors at all levels. The Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will identify and strategize intentional stewardship opportunities for the Advancement Office specifically while engaging the wider school community in purposeful activities with the goal of maximizing philanthropic potential and bringing donors to their highest level of philanthropy.
The position must sustain positive and mutually rewarding relations between the school and its donors and advise appropriate and novel recognition events and activities.
In addition, this position will communicate closely with the Directors of Institutional Advancement, Leadership Giving and Donor Relations, and Data Management and Donor Research, providing discovered indicators of wealth, assets, gift capacity, giving histories, and other pertinent information that might not be easily researched for the benefit of identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors. This information will also help determine the propensity to support a specific area of need or initiative.
The Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will report directly to the Director of Leadership Giving and Donor Relations, work closely with all members of the Advancement team, and interact with many school administrators to appropriately design effective, realistic stewardship programs.
Create, implement, manage, and assess a comprehensive stewardship plan to assist the Advancement team reach strategic fundraising and engagement goals
Responsible for strategizing and implementing stewardship opportunities for Saint Andrew’s School that will engage the community – these include a consistent plan of accurate reporting of cultivation and solicitation efforts, personalized endowment stewardship reports, and timely processing of well-written, purposeful acknowledgment letters
Responsible for notifying staff to ensure adherence to deadlines concerning donor contact and correspondence, special events, alumni stewardship activities, and annual/capital/endowment giving updates to administrators and the broader community
Sustain positive and mutually rewarding relationships between the school and donors and partner with leadership gift officers to determine best strategies for effective recognition of donors
Maintain ongoing and active networking with internal and external constituencies
Advise on facilitation of recognition events and coordinate various activities for donor societies
Create innovative and timely programs, projects, and events to thank, recognize, and steward donors that ensure donors understand the impact of their giving
Act as a liaison and specialist to leadership gift officers, providing cultivation and stewardship suggestions for individual donors and prospects and coordinate individualized stewardship plans for donors
Enhance the development and implementation of timely and strategic communications in multiple mediums. This effort will include, but not be limited to, social media, donor publications, e-blasts, year-end reminders, stewardship reports, gift acknowledgments, web pages, invitations, newsletter updates, and iBooks
Recommend and facilitate on- and off-campus publicity of leadership gifts and donors in coordination with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Publications
Assist with annual impact reports in collaboration with Director of Leadership Giving and Donor Relations and others within the Advancement Office
Work collaboratively with Advancement staff to compose letters, compile appropriate invitation lists, engage featured program participants, create programs and provide program materials, prepare program scripts and participant remarks as needed, and create and/or obtain donor awards and recognitions
Conduct accurate and timely maintenance the Raiser’s Edge database with regards to plaques and other recognitions such as newspaper articles, awards, and special announcements
Serve as the primary contact with companies that produce Saint Andrew’s plaques and society pins to order new recognition's and replace weathered or damaged ones
Account and record all purchases related to constituent relations and recognition
Maintain the already established excel record of campus recognition plaques
Record all donor interactions in the notes and actions section of Raiser’s Edge NXT
Establish and manage an online tracking system regarding stewardship activities with input and agreement from the Director of Data Management and Donor Research
The Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Institutional Advancement and/or the Head of School.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is required
Minimum 5 years fundraising, stewardship or alumni relations experience, with a proven track record in the non-profit or business industries
Excellent writing skills
Understand high-functioning fundraising, as well as donor engagement, donor relations programs, and high-level stewardship.
Efficiency in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to respond to shifting priorities both to manage emerging situations and take advantage of new opportunities.
Ability to set goals, institute timelines, and meet deadlines.
Experience with planning and executing events.
Dedicated and collaborative teammate with strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to professionally interact with all members of the School community; excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficient and demonstrates sound professional judgment in using social media.
Act ethically and confidentially with sensitive and confidential information.
Raiser’s Edge (or comparable) experience, including ability to build reports; create and run queries and dashboards; develop analytics on various strategies; research trends; and improve ways of operation; strong knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.
Ability to participate in school events after school hours, including nights and weekends.
