Position Title: Temporary Exempt Assistant Cook Supervisor: Head Chef
I. Summary The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness and skill building. The Assistant Cook is responsible for the planning and implementing of camp meals with the Head Chef.
II. Duration The Assistant Cook's employment begins on June 25, 2018, and includes 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 6 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday morning to Friday evening each week. Specific dates camp is open are July 8 -August 17, 2018. Additional weekend coverage will be required for 2 of 3 weekends in July and August. Weekly time schedule is determined by the Head Chef. The Assistant Cook will remain on camp until August 19, 2018 to assist Camp Director and staff in the cleaning and closing of the camp facility.
III. Specific Responsibilities - 100%
Cook and serve evening meals efficiently
Care and cleaning of kitchen equipment and facility
Assist Head Chef when needed during the camp day.
Supervise kitchen staff with professionalism when Head Chef is off duty
Assist in filling requisition requests for special meals and weekend meals
Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles.
Other duties may be assigned as required
18 years of age or previous experience as an assistant cook.
Experience with food management and large quantity cooking
Willingness and ability to be flexible to adjust to camp resources, conditions, and program
