Position Title: Temporary Exempt Music/Drama Specialist Supervisor: Assistant Director
I. Summary The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness and skill building. The Music/Drama specialist is responsible for planning and leading the Drama and Music programs. Two drama productions will be required of this position. The Drama and Music Specialist will serve as a cabin counselor as well.
II. Duration The summer camp season includes 1 Specialist week beginning June 25, 2018, 1 week of pre-camp staff training and 6 weeks of residential camp that run from Sunday morning to Friday evening each week. Specific dates camp is open are July 8- August 17, 2018. Weekend coverage will be required for two of the three additional weekends during the summer. The Music and Drama Specialist will remain on camp until August 19, 2018 to assist Camp Director and staff in the cleaning and closing of the camp facility.
III. Specific Responsibilities - 100%
Direct 2 larger-scale camp drama/musical productions for the two specific drama specialty weeks.
Develop and implement meaningful drama and music programming geared to all ages, interests, and abilities.
Supervise campers at all music and drama programs.
Organize and lead all camp singing sessions.
Oversee other staff members helping in music and drama programs.
Serve as a positive role model in language, appearance, and behavior
Participate and provide leadership in all camp programs
Support and embrace diversity in all interactions with campers, other staff members, volunteers and parents. Implement programs that engage diverse backgrounds, interests and learning styles
Other duties may be assigned as required
18 years of age or older
Experience and training in singing, drama production and music programs
Experience as a camper or working with children
Ability to communicate effectively with Camp Director, entire camp staff, campers and camp families
Incorporates Team Work and Flexibility into their daily work style
Ability to supervise and organize youth and adults
Ability to plan and lead programs
