Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: $57,000 minimum
The Faculty Engagement Associate will join a team of professional staff and students to support and further the mission of the Center for Civic Engagement. The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) works with communities within and beyond Binghamton University's campus to provide various rewarding and meaningful opportunities to students, faculty, staff, and community members. The CCE supports the attainment of academic, personal, and professional growth through civic engagement to develop informed, active and engaged citizens.

The Faculty Engagement Associate will work collaboratively with partners in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs and in the community to expand and enhance engaged learning opportunities that benefit both students and the community.
The Faculty Engagement Associate (FEA) will lead the expansion of faculty support and professional development initiatives to further faculty participation in a variety of community-based activities, ultimately furthering Binghamton's goal of recognition for distinction in high impact learning and community engagement. Primary among these initiatives is assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for expanding and strengthening the integration of service-learning and other community-oriented methodologies into academic courses.
Specific Duties Include:
Plan and host workshops and other events to promote and encourage faculty support for engaged teaching and scholarship
Oversee programming to provide support and incentives for engaged teaching, including the Engaged Fellows for Teaching Excellence program and Teaching Enrichment Grants
Manage the course designation process, including consulting with faculty during the application process, reviewing applications, working with Faculty Advisory Council for approval, and preparing information/materials for designation in Banner
Develop and implement outreach and communication strategies, including presentations, events, discussions and written communications to departments, schools, and others
Meet with individual faculty to consult on course design and community project implementation
Develop relationships with community organizations, and facilitate connections between faculty and community partners
Compose funding requests to support and further engagement goals
Strengthen data collection and assessment processes around engaged teaching, and support longer institutional goals for tracking and assessing community engagement work
Support CCE events, programs, initiatives and general promotion/outreach as needed, including meetings with individual students and student groups, presentations to classes and other groups, and outreach to community partners
Master's degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
Strategic and innovative thinker
Significant experience in the following areas: faculty development, community-based experiential learning, assessment, resource development, collaborative community-based work
Doctorate strongly preferred
Relevant research and practice experiences, such as teaching at the college level, first-hand use of service-learning, research and publications on experiential education and other forms of high-impact instruction
Experience in event planning
