Maret seeks a full-time Director of Upper School Admission to begin July 1, 2018. A member of a 5-person office, the Director of Upper School Admission furthers Maret’s mission of igniting students’ potential and fostering their academic, artistic and athletic talents by recruiting a diverse and talented upper school student body. Specifically, the Director of Upper School Admission reports to the Director of Admission & Strategic Communications, and is primarily responsible for overseeing the entire admission process, from inquiry to enrollment, for all students applying 9th – 12th grades.
Monitors upper school student attrition and organizes retention activities
Determines yearly target number for upper school enrollment
Recruits, schedules and manages approximately 40-student tour guides
Recruits, schedules and manages upper school shadow visit program
Presents all candidates for admission to Director of Admission & Strategic Directions and Head of School
Establishes criteria to consider in the upper school admission committee
Maintains relationships with outplacement and middle school directors at area middle schools
Represents the School at fairs, professional workshops, and annual meetings
Leads daily upper school admission tours
Conducts daily upper school admission interviews
Schedules and manages team of five-person faculty interviewing committee
Leads six-person upper school admission committee, including file preparation and reading
Annually identifies and selects two new upper school student scholars to the Davies Program.
Designs, organizes and supervises all new upper school family events
Organizes and supervises annual Admission Open House
Organizes and attends admission recruitment gatherings
Collaborates with organizations such as A Better Chance (ABC) and Higher Achievement Program (HAP) to select talented students of color for admission
Collects and analyzes data from peer schools to help inform curricular decisions at school.
Works with the upper school division director and ninth grade dean to chart academic progress of all new upper school students
Calculates yearly statistics on inquiries, applications, acceptances and yield
Serves as an upper school advisor
Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
Sense of humor, energy and enthusiasm
Ability to work both independently and in a group
Deep understanding of Maret’s mission, as well as upper school student experience
A love for working in a fast-paced and collaborative K-12 setting
Willingness to join in other duties as assigned
