ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Human Resources Operation Manager in developing, coordinating, and implementing key brand and engagement initiatives for the Human Resources (HR) Division. Communicates programs, and events that enhance and drive the values-driven culture for the City of Memphis. Evaluates key areas of ownership include employee engagement events, website design, advertising campaigns, email marketing, content development, social media platforms and other communication outlets. Supports division personnel to ensure that engagement and communication projects are completed on time and within budget. Aids the development of communication plans for signature events as well as supporting advertising and marketing materials (print and digital).Coordinates and serves as liaison by promoting uniformity and consistency in HR objectives and brand communication with the internal marketing and communication team. Manages and coordinates content information is shared among HR service centers, divisions and external customers. Collaborates with managers across services centers to ensure communication and program design is consistent with HR's brand. Creates and maintains a HR-wide communication calendar to ensure projects and programs are executed in a timely manner. Ensures the creation and dissemination of all printed material such as brochures, press releases, newsletter, and external and internal communication. Creates a comprehensive and sustainable employee engagement strategy for communication and branding purposes. Drafts and implements HR-related messages and programming ranging from employee surveys to rewards programs. Maintains and updates the division's website, social media channels and communication outlets. Tracks social media content with the goal of connecting and engaging with the current and potential City of Memphis employees. Identifies appropriate social media channels that best serve the division's business needs and objectives by tailoring posting and other HR related information. Collaborates with cross-functional service centers in developing recruitment plans to leverage social media space and efforts with other support staff to ensure job posting content is updated. Tracks performance of various social media initiatives and develops changes to improve results. Researches and prepares reports using various software applications. Responds to all questions/inquiries concerning the status of special projects as requested.
Performs special press releases, executive communications, event planning, and social media related projects as assigned.
Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing with management, staff, employees, volunteers, media, community leaders, city officials, and the public. Requires the ability to use a computer, copier, telephone and other office equipment.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. May travel to various work sites to assist in the administering of written, physical ability, or performance examination including possibly working nights/weekends and/or working outdoors in all types of weather.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing or a closely related field and seven (7) years' of work experience performing professional communication, employee engagement, or branding activities to include in a Human Resources environment; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must have working experience using social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, and other sites. Must have working experience using software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing, and graphics software.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
