Interim Opportunities in Foundation Portfolio Management

The Enterprise Business Management team is recruiting for two interim positions to support the execution of the Foundation Portfolio Management initiative.
Foundation Portfolio Management is the overarching project with two distinct, but highly related work streams:
Annual Planning / Strategy Review (AP/SR) Execution & Improvement The Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Financial Officer serve as the business process owners for the foundation’s annual planning and strategy review process. In this capacity, they are responsible for execution of the end-to-end process, as well as continuous improvement of supporting templates, tools and guidance via a prioritized CI plan that fuses leadership feedback with input from stakeholders across the foundation to improve the value to decision support and overall efficiency of the process.
The Decision Support Project is an effort to co-design, test and evaluate a new portfolio management approach for the foundation that aims to improve the transparency of decisions, visibility of resource allocations, and help leaders manage in ways that promote collective success. The project will prototype new ways of using strategic, financial, and human resource information, as well as governance and process, to make decisions. The project staff will work alongside programmatic and operational teams over a multi-year prototype period to co-develop and evaluate solutions prior to scaling to the foundation.
Two limited term project roles are open for recruitment. The positions are targeted for ~12-18 months starting no later than early January 2018 (ideally December 2017). Important note regarding FTE candidates; with Manager Support if selected for the role, internal FTEs will retain their FTE status. Managers will have the option of backfilling for individual moving to Foundation Portfolio Management through stretch opportunities, LTE or contingent worker arrangements.
Position 1 Annual Planning/Strategy Review: (Sr. PM/PM) Primary emphasis: Manage the Annual Planning and Strategy Review process with a strong emphasis on development and implementation of continuous improvement efforts; change management, communications, and stakeholder engagement strategy in collaboration with project team members. Secondary emphasis: Contribute to solution co-design and implementation.
Position 2 – Decision Support: (Sr. BA/BA) Primary emphasis: Collaborate with programmatic and operational partners to test, evaluate, and continuously improve business solutions. Secondary emphasis: Assist with change management, communications, stakeholder engagement, and readiness for scale.
Both positions will report to the Business Project Lead for Foundation Portfolio Management, Thomas Mitchell.

Job Summary – Senior Business Analyst/Business Analyst
Perform thorough analysis of business problems and processes, and customer and end-user needs to define functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions.
Elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the project stakeholders, including customers and end users, and serve as the conduit for requirements that flow between the customer community and the technical team responsible for solution delivery.
Works with technical teams to develop process and technical solutions that support stakeholders’ goals and objectives; organize/lead prototype reviews, demos and user acceptance reviews.
Provides assistance by consulting on and/or creating content for change management communications, training and education; and participating or leading portions of training sessions. Participates in planning and execution of administrative and user training and rollout activities. Develop documentation and transition materials.
May lead or assist in the creation of annual strategic plans and development of multi-year technology roadmaps. and provide relevant expertise to help guide content, in partnership with business and technical team members.
May oversee and review the work of other business analysts and contingent workforce and coaches and advises related to the same. Provides knowledge, guidance and recommendations to assist analysts in their daily activities and expertise development within the BA discipline within or across teams. May also delegate work.

Core Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of IT, SDLC and/or business process change frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL, Agile, Waterfall).
Strong Subject matter knowledge within specific functional domain in more than one area and/or technical business area expertise may apply.
Experience developing conceptual models and working collaboratively with roles like solutions architects to translate these to analytical models.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to arbitrate and objectively evaluate competing requests across the enterprise.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time.
Able to adjust work-style and communication to match team or audience, especially when working with non-technical resources.
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
