Assistant Professor – Tenure Track Public Administration and Political Science Department of Political Science, Philosophy, and Religion
Teach graduate courses in Public Administration and undergraduate courses in American Government and Public Administration. Within the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program, the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in nonprofit management, nonprofit fundraising, and nonprofit communication, including application and use of social media. At the undergraduate level, the candidate will be expected to teach the introductory American Government course and other courses relevant to the candidate’s areas of expertise. The successful candidate will conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications within the discipline, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in University and professional service.
Ph.D. or ABD (with Ph.D. by August 2018) in Political Science, Public Administration, or related field (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
Demonstrated ability to teach these courses in Public Administration: nonprofit management; nonprofit fundraising; and nonprofit communication, including application and use of social media
Demonstrated ability to teach introductory American Government
Demonstrated ability for effective teaching and refereed publications
Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach in face-to-face and online/distance modes
Demonstrated strong communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to the teacher/scholar model
Demonstrated commitment to functioning effectively as part of a team
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
